Introduction

This page provides troubleshooting information for EVC 2.

What to do first when an issue occurs

Most issues can be solved with the following steps:

  1. Update the mobile app to the latest version via Google Play or the App Store.
  2. In your charger settings, update the charger firmware to the latest version (see the firmware update guide).
  3. Reboot the device from the charger settings.

How to check the charger firmware version

Follow these steps to check your current EVC 2 firmware version in the app and update it. Always make sure your charger has the latest firmware.

  1. Go to the app settings and press Device info.
  2. Press Check for updates.
  3. The current firmware version is shown at the top.

How to download the troubleshoot file

Follow these steps to download the troubleshoot file in the app.

  1. Go to Diagnostics.
  2. Scroll to the bottom.
  3. Tap Troubleshoot file.
  4. Tap Download troubleshoot file.
  5. Wait for the ‘file downloaded’ message.
  6. Select the downloaded file.
  7. Tap the icon in the top right corner and press Share.

Note: For best results, download the file during a charging session, so that more details about the current situation are saved.

LED indicators

Status indications

A B C D E F G
H I J K L M N
Ref Description Meaning Troubleshooting
A White LEDs rolling from the bottom to the top EVC 2 is booting up. Normal behaviour – no action needed.
B White LEDs rolling from the top to the bottom EVC 2 is Reserved (OCPP only). Normal behaviour – no action needed.
C White pulsing LEDs EVC 2 is in standby mode and waiting for action. Normal behaviour – no action needed.
D Yellow LEDs on EVC 2 is not charging, simplified charging sequence is required. Open installer menu via the app and select to allow simplified charging sequence.
E Blue LEDs lights up from the middle EVC 2 do not require permission, it is waiting for EV to initiate charging process (go to state C). Normal behaviour – no action needed.
F Blue LEDs pulsing Permission to charge is not granted. EVC 2 requires authorisation. Authorise yourself with app or NFC card.
G Blue LEDs rolldown from up to down
  1. Wait for scheduled time.
  2. No dynamic power – DLB/DLM/Solar enabled and no sufficient power.
  3. EVSE (charger) suspended.
  4. Reserved charge (OCPP only).
  1. Go to settings via the app and select schedule time section to check for set graphs
  2. Wait for more available power or increase amperage limits via settings (if your grid allows it)
  3. Available power is less than 6 A. Provide more power or wait for more to generate.
  4. Other user has already reserved this charging station or RemoteStartTransaction command was received (OCPP only)
H Four middle blue LEDs pulsing EVC 2 waiting to add new NFC card. Normal behaviour – no action needed.
I Green LEDs pulsing Initialisation of charging. Normal behaviour – no action needed.
J Green LEDs rolling upwards from the bottom EVC 2 is in charging process. Normal behaviour – no action needed.
K Green LEDs on EVC 2 finished charging. Normal behaviour – no action needed.
L Purple LEDs on EVC 2 requires ventilation (charging is done in state D). Open installer menu via the app and select that charging location is ventilated. To select that charger must be installed in ventilated location.
M Red four middle LEDs NFC/RFID card declined from the server. Check if NFC/RFID card is in a server cards whitelist.
N Green four middle LEDs NFC/RFID card accepted from the server. Normal behaviour – no action needed.

Red LED indications (errors)

A B C D E F G H
Ref Description Meaning Troubleshooting
A First LED lit up in red

Input voltage error. Causes:

  • Overvoltage
  • Undervoltage
  • Wrong wiring
  • Check if input wiring is connected correctly;
  • Measure input voltage;
  • Check installer menu settings if supply voltage and voltage tolerance is in accordance with the measured input voltage.
B Second LED lit up in red

Output voltage/current error. Causes:

  • Overvoltage
  • Undervoltage
  • Output current
  • Disconnect charging cable from the EV and check if the issue remains.
  • Reboot charger and try to connect EV again.
C Third LED lit up in red Current leakage detected.
  • Disconnect the cable from the EV and check if the error persists.
  • If the error is cleared, try to start charging. If the error occurs once again, try following steps:
  • Check if charging cable is fully plugged into socket and/or EV;
  • Check if the inside of both the socket and the plug has no foreign materials inside (is clean).
  • Check visually if the cable is not damaged.
  • Check if the boards are not covered in dust and/or other materials.
D Fourth LED lit up in red

Connectivity error. Causes:

  • Cable lock
  • PP fail
  • Car diode
  • Check if the charging cable is connected correctly from the charger side (socket version) and from the EV side;
  • Try to reconnect charging cable to the EV and EVSE (charger) (if it is socket version).
  • Listen if you can hear a clicking sound from the EVC 2 when you plug the cable to EV. Charger should lock cable plug. If you can’t hear, try to unplug cable (from EVSE (charger) side) while it is plugged from EV side. If it is possible to unplug, report this problem via VIP helpdesk or your sales manager.
  • If none of these steps helps, measure the voltage between PE and PP and check if it is in accordance to the standard.
E Fifth LED lit up in red

Temperature error. Causes:

  • Temperature reached 85 °C
  • Check the temperature inside the app > Device info. If temperature is higher than 85 °C wait while charger cools down.
F Sixth LED lit up in red

Internal errors. Causes:

  • −12 V
  • Restart EVC 2
G All LEDs pulsing red

Faulty connection to EV. Causes:

  • CP fail
  • Try reconnect charging cable from the EV side. There might be control pilot communication problem which can occur with different EV models.
H First LED lit up in orange

Warning. Problems with energy meter:

  • Unrecognised
  • Badly set
  • Communication problems

Other problems:

  • Temperature
  • Current
  • D state

Go to the live data section and see what is the main problem.

  • Check connected wires via EVC 2 and energy meter inputs;
  • Check if the energy meter is compatible;
  • Check temperature.

If the issue persists, report it via VIP Helpdesk or your sales manager. Please provide as much information as possible (photos, videos, etc.), as this helps solve it faster.

Emeter wrong type Energy meter configuration mismatch Connected Energy meter and configured Energy meter type in Installer menu are different.
E-meter unidentified Energy meter type unidentified Unknown device detected. Check if the energy meter is compatible.
Main Board boot fail Main board is failing to boot Reboot charger and check if the issue remains - contact support.

These warning LEDs show that there is an active warning in the charger. This warning indication will work with other indications. If the issue persists, report it via VIP Helpdesk or your sales manager. Please provide as much information as possible (photos, videos, etc.), as this helps solve it faster.
